Newsarama has a brief interview with Steve Murphy about the upcoming TMNT prequel comics as well as the official movie adaption coming later this month.

The Prequel comics will be:

1 - Raphael (by Steve Murphy and Fernando Pinto)
2 - Michelangelo (by Jake Black and Mr Exes)
3 - Donatello (by Steve Murphy and Jim Lawson)
4 - April (by Jake Black and Andres Ponce)
5 - Leonardo (by Steve Murphy and Dario Brizuela)

Each prequel will provide a back story for the character it focuses on, letting us know where they have been and what they have been doing prior to the opening of the film.

The prequels will be hitting comic shops on March 7th (Raphael and Michelangelo), March 14th (Donatello and April), and March 21st (Leonardo). The official movie adaption will be hitting shelves March 28th, the week after the films release. The adaption might be worth picking up just because it is based on the final shooting draft of the script. As a result, there are a few scenes in the comic that won't be making it into the final cut of the film.

My new PocketPC - sort of

Pocket PC emulator

Someday I’m probably going to take the plunge and replace my Treo 650 with some kind of Windows Mobile device, since the Windows Mobile devices always seem to have more features like 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a nice amount of RAM. Actually, “someday” might’ve gotten a bit sooner after yesterday, when my wife called me on my Treo and the device crashed and reset when I answered the call.

I’ve long been a Palm user though and when I’ve played with Windows Mobile in the store, I’ve never really felt comfortable with it. And I’d need to find new apps to replace things like Sudoku, Directory Assistant, FlightStatus, etc.

So I thought that I’d download an emulator and play with it a bit to see if I could get comfortable with the interface and the available apps.

The emulator is decent, but somewhat annoying to install. First, I had to find this page and then download the emulator and the images, which are separate downloads. Then I could install the emulator. But before you can install the images, it turns out you to have to install the Virtual Machine Network Driver for Microsoft Device Emulator. Then I ran the program but found that it would crash on startup in Virtual PC on my PowerBook. So then I repeated the process on my wife’s Windows laptop and finally, it worked.

iTunes opens up to Indie Movie Maker

itunes.jpgVariety reports that an Indy filmmaker, after 10 months of negotiations, has managed to get his Independent film into the iTunes store.  The film is a 40 minute snowboarding documentary entitled “That”.  At first “That” may not seem like such a big deal, but this sets a precident that may ultimately be the first tiny crack in the big Hollywood Dam.

If other Independent companies can broker deals with iTunes to get their content to the iTunes audience, the big studio is effectively getting cut out of the market.  With digital content revenue growing daily, in a few years time, this could be a signifigent blow to the big studios….

We’ll have to see what the next Independent production that comes to iTunes is…I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Water Powered Batteries with MIT’s Walter Levin lessons

I have never seen this demonstration before. Water running through two small open cans into a larger metal collection container wired together to create 10,000 to 15,000 volts. Is it an accumulation of static electricity? If someone knows what is happening I would love to hear about it!
